Okay. My family is very unsupportive of me. I'm basically on my own here. I want to be an actress just for the love of the art. I love acting. Well, I don't know what to do. I'm 15. I have acted in the only play my middle school had in the three years I was there. I made the lead. I was Maria in Westside Story. That was in 8th grade. In 9th grade(this past year), I took first year drama because I didnt take it in middle because I wasn't told until it was too late to change my schedule. Anyway, we had an in class play. It was Cinderella and I got the part of Cinderella. Everyone that watched it thought I did a great job. My drama teacher told me i could go very far. I take drama after school during the school year. I'm not taking the drama class because I'm trying to get all my high school credits. I want to be in the schools play but, to me, they're not that great of the production. It's very cheap and the storyline sometime doesn't fit. But I probably will just to get more practice...Please help! Girl needs advice over here!?
Why would it be weird to ask your drama teacher? Teachers are there to help, and especially if you're just heading into high school, you want to use all the teacher resources you can to prepare yourself for college or other future plans, as in acting... See if your drama teacher can help you find something locally that is more geared towards your age group, and if not, maybe he/she can still encourage you to try out for the other place your grandma mentioned... So what if they are not age-appropriate.. if you can get your foot in the door, they could probably always use younger aged roles.. Good luck! Please help! Girl needs advice over here!?
Not a whole lot you can do without your parents' support until you are 18. Keep being in all the plays you can at school and in the community. If you can take any acting classes at professional studios do that too.
finish school your 15teen lot of life left at 15teen who can tell the future by the time your 21 u might not even think that it
was a good idea
To be honest, most school plays aren't great productions. However if you're in them that means you're keen and you've had experience on stage, back stage, rehearsing, working with others, script reading, blah blah. It's worth doing. Don't think ';Oh I'll look like crap'; think ';This is a brilliant step towards my career.'; You've got to grasp every opportunity and if you have one in your hands, take it. Not everyone gets them so lap it up!
